Product Description
Easy-Drive ‘double pointed’ Helical Remedial Wall Ties are an essential element for the stability of a cavity wall structure. An effective brick tie system transfers static and live loads across the cavity, enabling load-sharing by both inner and outer walls. Typically, cavity wall ties are bedded in a mortar bed joint as a building is constructed.
Cavity Wall Tie failure can be a consequence of a construction defect, for example they have been fitted incorrectly, or even omitted completely. Wall Ties may even have suffered corrosion over time, thereby compromising their load-sharing capabilities.
Easy-Drive Helical Remedial Wall Ties are used when the existing ties have either corroded or insufficient ties have been used. Tying both the inner (load bearing) leaf with the external wall and pinning together delaminated masonry.
The unique fixing tool is cost effective and easy to use (sold separately).
Special Features
- Reliable in all types of masonry
- Unobtrusive to the overall structure
- Robust and corrosion free
- Engineered product upgrade
- Does not rely on adhesion
- Not affected by extreme temperatures, including fire
- Deep and continuous helical troughs prevent migration of water across the cavity
- Loads are spread evenly across the full penetrative length of the tie
Installation
- Drill the pilot holes through both leaves to required depth (70mm min embedment) and diameter (5.5 – 6.5mm for 8mm tie).
- Insert the installation tool into an SDS rotary hammer drill, then place the tie into the installation tool.
- Drive the tie into the internal leaf to the required depth ensuring the tie is fully recessed to the external leaf below the face of the masonry.
- Make good the tie at the surface with matching mortar.
